If you have a magic keyboard, or any bluetooth keyboard connected to your ipad, sidecar can turn it into a midi controller. I tested it with gadget and it works great. For me it is more to play certain parts when I don't have a midi keyboard or when drawing the notes in doesn't quite get the feel I want. But also if there are things you want to trigger you can map to the qwerty board off screen and it works very well. you do loose a tiny bit of screen on the bottom and you do have to keep the app open on one side but to have a midi keyboard ready at all times is pretty great.
