Challenge: Create a track that fits in with the STRANGER THINGS tv show!!

For example: Entries can be in the realm of the opening theme, a piece that sounds like a monster chasing you, or some deep mid-eighties retro!!

Sounds in your entry must be generated via iOS… traditional acoustic instruments can be used if recorded or effected via iOS. Desktop effects or sounds are discouraged.

Korg Gadget has become the center of my workflow in the last couple of years. When I need to be inspired I usually start with hardware synths. When I am just motivated to create, and want instruments in front of me that I know and don't have to fumble through patches or patching, I start with gadget. With gadget and export to Ableton Live and the ability to merge multile als exports from gadgets allows you to remix your music, use multiple takes (saves) that you like or merge midi with audio in the same als save. In this video I take it a step further after exporting to Ableton both audio (samples) and midi, merge the two into one project and assign the midi to trigger video using the fantastic Ebosuite plugins. Also the parameters of start of video, size, color and most Vjay and video editor fx can be midi mapped to anything is just a performance waiting to happen.

If you are using an Ipad to make music, edit videos or just curious of visuals this video 

is a proof of concept that an m1 ipadpro can record 4 videos at once. I also added a video

in the description for 4 output videos from VS Visual Synthesizer to show the concept

even further. I did try 4 VS output videos and a screen recording but the (FPS) frame rate

went down to 12fps and it was more glitch art than useable. 

You need:

A recent Ipad for two videos at once (it can be done on older models with some tweaks)

AUM or Audiobus to host 

Visual Synthesizer auv3

Lumafusion or video editor that accepts multiple video fromats

any auv3 synth app

a sequnecer or midi controller to trigger VS

March 2009 this blog started as a korg ds-10 blog. The ds-10 plus took over and by the time m01 and dsn-12 had come out ipads and iphones were taking over portable music.

Over the years other nintendo ds synths and programs were added to the blog, mobile creation and other devices would occasionally make appearances but I tried to keep the focus on the ds-10 until recently.

At some point it became mostly videos and less interviews etc.

There were less and less things about the ds-10 so even more about my adventures with the ds-10.

More recently I wanted gadget to become the focus.

Looking back on the blog it became a little too much about what I am working on and I want to change that.

Anyway, thanks for checking over the years and I want to make the blog more of mobile music

blog and resource.
