I have the original nds adaptor and have been using it for some time. Now that I have started my third korg Ds 10 album I felt a little nervous that if this thing breaks I would not be able to finish. So I ordered the new one and will blog if I find any differences. I also finally got a USB charge cable (easier than carrying around the adapter).

day 8 is here of michael nervous making an album
Day 8 is the song untitled - pansnc - Again this is no external effects on audio and lots on video. this song almost did not even get a save. I was not happy with it and started almost from scratch...other than a few sounds and ideas it is completely different.

day 7 - song 123432 - new michael nervous album
I added video effects as I am trying to get used to some software that I will be able to edit 3d. I think my computer is out dated and I need to upgrade. anyway it's not 3d but i had fun learning some effects....work in progress. this is still a live take into the zi8 camera i just edited the video result audio is untouched...if there is a small sound interuption it's from a bad video swipe.

oh yeah - song- new michael nervous -2011
there are so many versions of this song I think i may have two different titles and they only share a few sounds.
day 6 - mono 1&2 - new michael nervous
This track was started in Las Vegas and is further along than the video now....but has that empty pattern break that is so familiar to ds 10 artists (has since been removed).
Effects coming soon- delay and distortion
multiple ds systems coming soon -debating wether to use 2 or 3 ds 10s....if I use 2 for each track I can have all the systems linked and there does not have to be a pause between every track. I can run 2 versions on two ds systems and two on another and run dual mode on dsi, so that we get me three songs with no break. I also would like to have it where it gets me more patterns not running simulataniously. mute 1 ds then mute the first ds after the 16 patterns have been used. I also am very cautious as 1 ds is a refurb and the screen sometimes does not get the touches.
Ds 10 confessions
If you are wondering why I have so many ds systems I traded in games at game stop when the korg ds 10 first came out. I became obsessed with it. I must have watched the trailer videos 100 times before it came out...as with ds 10 plus. I have been making music on portable drum machines, toys, field recorders anything mobile since I can remember and the korg ds 10 has by far been the easiest and most fun. It forces you to record direct out so no conversion to screw up- I love effects and that has kept me from playing live more with ds 10. I have decided to mix my old style of music with the ds 10 (I do this when I jam with friends anyway), which is using effects and field recordings to multiple outputs. I tried to make my rig simple and easy to use live, but I love not knowing what exactly will happen with all the effects and options. I did a show once that I used a laptop running ableton live with nothing more than a trigger finger and had field recordings and homemade beats, guitars, noises etc linked to the pads and faders. It had a lot of effects. I had a friend on stage with me and she ran the trigger finger with the use of worksheets I had made. the worksheets are the way the songs go on the album. I had a mouse in case anything was to out of order (loud noise, bpm to far off). In the background was a kaleidoscope video of boat rides in Thailand and deep ruin adventures in Cambodia. we had 8 channel outputs going to powered speakers around the venue - including there stage speakers. It went very well and that's the kind of thing I want back with audio of my live sound - mixed with fun craziness of my early albums were everything else was played live over a cd of things we could not re-create (field recordings, someone Else's keyboard etc.) I'm rambling and should be recording.......

I actually used the dual mode of the ds 10 plus on this track. when I make the album I will have it on two separate cards using nds adaptor and ds 10 tool.

day 3 video- mchl nrvs new material
This video was a sound test for recording directly into my kodak zi8 camera thru a m-audio 10db pad.
-volume needs to be louder on dsi.
-mic input volume up as well
I used a headphone y splitter to hear in headphones.
It was only a test of the patterns. Some of the patterns were created on earbuds and did not sound good thru full dynamic headphones.
overall I was excited to post this, but was not satisfied.
I was hoping to accomplish an easy - not editing way of posting video.
the high resolution of the camera made my pc run slow and the quality was grainy (on macro).
- I will leave lights on next time, reduce resolution and clean off sd card.
Album and live set up have been in my mind since I first started ds-10 and I have done this with drum machines, speak and spells, other circuit bent rigs and original gameboys etc.
....day 3 of the blog...day ? of the actual set up and album....

Post 300 special news- for me at least-
The majority of the material for my new album is written. I thought it would be fun to show it's progress on the blog.
I did everything different this time around.
- made some songs on ds cards, backed them up, made new versions of the same songs and will play them together through effects, monotrons kaoss pads along side of filed recordings.
- made some some songs on ds+ and will use them live on ds cards playing on separate ds systems so i can use external effects (using ds tool to separate songs).
I have only tried everything to make sure it works.
I am finishing the patterns of some songs.
I have backed up all cards using nds adaptor
I'm keeping notes on all the parameters that matter live- bpm, patterns...
I will be using 4 ds lites running the ds 10 software linked together through local wifi with a dsi running the ds 10 + software.
I hope to be using a boss dd3 and dd5
also a mini kp and kp3
2 monotrons
nsp using iphone
zoom r16
either a way to big for mobile music mackie board or that small mixer in the photo
the usb keychain was a gift and stores my backups and notes (nds adaptor software and ds tool)
